Requiem

overcentered

image

Recalling last autumns dreams
From some strange and distant shore
Like the shadows of your past
in pale shades of lavender and grey
lying close upon the water
The still ghost of a mist at dusk
like the last hours of a time
when everything seemed right
You can feel the twilight beckon
With a longing for the night
You were there amidst the living
With the friends who shared your plight
Their faces all are gone now
from this place without a name
So the distance ever widens
and time ever grows in length
until the last dying embers
of memory lay fading upon the grate
leaving dust and Ashes
At the threshold of this day
That opens on all your tomorrows
and silently leads you away
