Waiting

overcentered

image

Standing alone
Watching the sky
Waiting for dreams
to slowly drift by
Sometimes they’re crimson
like the sun as it sets
Or midnight blue
tinged with regret
Someone is weeping
somewhere in the clouds
Falling from Heaven
To pools on the ground
As the trees sigh a litany
with the song of the wind
A watercolor symphony
without any end
Like a storybook hero
that doesn’t exist
looking for answers
that never will fit
Waiting to be recognized
to be ushered in
longing for inclusion
Where it all begins
As years rush by
leaving no trace
of days spent together
in a faraway place
Where even the Moon
Has a different face
and time stands silently
In the hand of fate
Waiting patiently there
for the miracle of faith

Canyon walls

overcentered

image

The hours pass by
This blue arid sky
As day follows day
And days become years
All life seems to be waiting here
Hot cobalt wind and canyon red
along the empty riverbeds
Scorched sand and shale
Rocks fissured and glazed
All perfectly still
All waiting for rain
When the blessing will burst
And Heaven pours down
Then this cracked hard earth
will bring forth lifes bloom
From ashen to violet
and sandstone to gold
In primrose and amethyst sunsets untold
To all but this ‘wasteland’
Forever unknown

Dreams

image

Dreaming dreams that drive you
Some will give you wings
Some will redefine you
But they all will make you bleed

Some come as a blessing
Others more like a curse
Nothing will come between you
In Heaven or on earth

Until it unfolds in glory
Like a burst of radiant light
Or  dismantles your ambitions
A gift that’s wrapped too tight

Some dreams become obsessions
and mislead you on the way
leaving your heart empty
while consuming all your days

So choose your dreams most wisely
live mindful of the time
Or the end will surely find you
with no one at your side

Look rather to the heavens
the larger frame of life
There is a bigger picture
And your dreams must fit inside

Gethsemane

There is a place to which all must come
There its no one there for you
No one to watch and pray
The whole world looks away

I know You were there
Praying alone in the stillness that night
In the garden of despair
Drops of sweat like blood
And sorrowed onto death

Because you were there
You know all that we feel
We are frightened and dismayed
Not always knowing what is real

Save us we cry aloud
lost amid the rocks and trees
This troubled garden is all we see
In desperation we pray
for God’s love to find the way

Then in the perfect way of peace
And in the perfect way of love
The answer is made clear
By God’s only begotten Son
Not our will, but Yours, be done
